How to buy Monero (XMR) without KYC
The realistic ways to get XMR without handing over your identity — starting from crypto you already hold, or from cash — with the trade-offs of each route.
01Step zero: a Monero wallet you control
Every route below ends the same way — XMR arriving at an address — so start there. Install a non-custodial Monero wallet: the official GUI or CLI wallet, Feather on desktop, Cake Wallet or Monerujo on a phone. Create the wallet, write the 25-word (or 16-word) seed on paper, and keep it offline. That seed is the money.
Your receive address is 95 characters and starts with 4; subaddresses start with
8 and are better for receiving, because each one is unlinkable to the others. Generate
a fresh subaddress for each purchase.
02Route 1 — you already hold crypto: swap it
This is the simple case, and the one this site exists for. Pick what you hold, paste your XMR address, send one deposit. The XMR is paid out to your wallet, typically within the hour.
| You send | You get | Arrives in | Swap |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.0125 BTC | 1.8195 XMR | 10-60 min | BTC → XMR |
| 1,000 USDT (TRC20) | 1.7789 XMR | 10-60 min | USDT → XMR |
| 0.4 ETH | 1.8826 XMR | 10-60 min | ETH → XMR |
| 12 LTC | 1.2656 XMR | 10-60 min | LTC → XMR |
| 8 SOL | 1.5825 XMR | 10-60 min | SOL → XMR |
| 1,000 USDC (ERC20) | 1.7871 XMR | 10-60 min | USDC → XMR |

Which asset to start from? The one you have. If you are choosing what to acquire first, Litecoin is worth a look for small amounts: its network fees are a fraction of Bitcoin’s and it confirms four times faster. The full walkthrough is in how to swap BTC to XMR without KYC — the steps are identical for any other asset.
03Route 2 — starting from cash or a bank account
Here honesty matters more than optimism. Card processors and banks are regulated, so any business that takes your card or your transfer has to know who you are. “Buy XMR with a credit card, no verification” is either limited to trivial amounts or not what it claims. The routes that do exist:
Peer-to-peer trades
Platforms where individuals trade with each other, with the coins held in escrow until payment is confirmed. You pay the seller directly — cash in person, cash by mail, a bank transfer, a gift card — and receive BTC, LTC or sometimes XMR itself. The platform may not ask who you are; your counterparty sees whatever your payment method reveals. Check reputation scores, start small, and never release payment outside the escrow flow.
Bitcoin ATMs
Cash in, BTC (sometimes LTC) out to a QR code from your wallet. Requirements vary by country and operator: many ask for a phone number, and most require ID above a threshold. Fees are high — often 8 to 15 percent. Then swap the coins to XMR.
Earning it
Being paid in crypto for work or sales involves no purchase at all. Monero is also one of the few coins still mineable on an ordinary CPU; through P2Pool a home computer earns small, regular amounts without joining a custodial pool. It will not make you rich. It does produce XMR with no counterparty whatsoever.
04The routes side by side
| Route | You need | Typical cost | Speed | Who learns what |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Swap crypto you hold | Any crypto + an XMR wallet | Network fees + a margin inside the rate | 10–60 min | The deposit chain is public; nobody holds your identity |
| Peer-to-peer trade | Cash or a payment method, patience | A premium over market, a few percent | Minutes to days | Your counterparty sees your payment details |
| Bitcoin ATM, then swap | Cash, a BTC wallet | High: often 8–15% | An hour or two in total | Often a phone number; ID above a limit; a camera |
| Mining (P2Pool) | A computer, electricity | Your power bill | Small amounts, continuously | Nobody |
05After it arrives
- “Locked” is normal. Monero locks every incoming transaction for 10 blocks, about twenty minutes. It unlocks by itself.
- Keep it in your wallet. The privacy comes from the protocol and from holding your own keys. Sending the coins to an exchange account hands both back.
- Back up once, properly. The seed on paper, in a place that survives a burglary and a flood. No photo, no cloud note.
- Mind the rules where you live. Privacy coins are legal to hold in most countries, but some jurisdictions restrict how platforms may offer them, and that changes. It is your responsibility to check — the terms say the same thing.
06Questions people ask
Can I buy Monero with a credit card here?
No. This desk swaps crypto for crypto only — no cards, no bank transfers, in either direction. If you hold any other coin, you can turn it into XMR here without an account.
What is the cheapest coin to convert into XMR?
The rate margin is similar across pairs; what differs is the network fee of the coin you send. Litecoin, Solana and TRON-based assets are cheap to move, Bitcoin and Ethereum cost more. For small amounts that difference is most of the cost.
Is there a limit without verification?
There is no verification tier at all here, so no amount triggers one. Each pair has a live minimum and maximum set by liquidity; the module shows both before you send.
Is buying Monero legal?
In most countries, yes. Several exchanges have delisted it under regulatory pressure, which is about what platforms may offer rather than what individuals may hold. Laws differ and change; check yours.
